Athlete Protection and Abuse Prevention Policy
The safety and welfare of all athletes and participants is paramount to the AAU. The following items are included in the Athlete Protection and Abuse Prevention Policy.

Report a Concern
MANDATORY REPORTING:
Per the Protecting Youth Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Act of 2017, all adult members interacting with youth athletes are mandatory reporters. Any suspected child and sexual abuse must be reported within 24 hours to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

The AAU does not investigate suspicions or allegations of child physical or sexual abuse or attempt to evaluate the credibility or validity of such allegations as a condition for reporting to the approprate law enforcement authorities.
Education and Training
Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)
- All registered non-athletes will take the free AAU offered PCA educational course as part of gaining membership into the AAU.
- Double-Goal Coach training program will give all team adminstrators, club directors and coaches the tools they need to help youth athletes improve.
- Child Abuse Prevention Training is included in the PCA courses.
- PCA has teamed up with Kidpower, a nonprofit leader in abuse, bullying and violence prevention, to offer important resources for coaches, parents and youth sports leaders to help keep kids safe.
