RIO DE JANEIRO (February 23, 2024) – AAU member and one of the top AAU fencers, Carlos Romero Kuri, just took home a silver medal at the 2024 Pan American Cadet and Youth Championships. Representing Mexico in the games, Carlos has represented his country and the AAU in a major way.
Presented by the Pan American Fencing Confederation and the International Fencing Federation, the Pan American Championships showcase some of the top athletes and future Olympians. Carlos competed in the Men's U-17 division at 2024 Pan American Cadet & Youth Championships in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Fencing became an official AAU sport in 2021 and Carlos has been leading the way ever since. From competing at the AAU Junior Olympic Games and helping the sport grow, to winning medals in Brazil, we are hoping to see this AAU member take home Olympic medals one day in the future.

The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by nearly 800,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers.
