What is the difference between AAU & other organizations? |

What rules/routines does AAU follow? |
AAU follows the "rules of the sport" using criteria set forth by the national governing body (NGB) of gymnastics in the United States (USAG) with a few allowances that help make gymnastics more accessible to more athletes. View these allowances in our rule book linked below. GYMNASTICS RULE BOOK |
How do I register for Nationals? |
To register for Nationals, click the link in the blue box below. Please follow all of the steps on that home login page in order to register your athletes for Nationals. REGISTER HERE |
Does every athlete competing in Nationals need to have a coach? |
Yes, EVERY athlete needs to have a coach present on the floor during competition. This includes ADULT athletes as well. All coaches must be AAU members and can purchase a non-athlete membership at the link below. PURCHASE A MEMBERSHIP |
How do you qualify for Nationals? |
Athletes are required to participate in their local AAU District/State Championships to qualify to AAU Nationals. You CAN register for AAU Nationals without having actually participated in your AAU District/ State Championships yet, as the registration deadline for AAU Nationals can sometimes precede the registration deadline for your Distric/State Championship. If you are unable to attend your District/State Championship, or if your district does not offer a district/ state championship, please request a petition by emailing the address below. **Ladies division, and Special Stars division athletes do NOT need to participate in a district event in order to attend Nationals.**

How do gymnasts move through the levels of gymnastics? |
AAU allows the coaches to determine the best fit level for each gymnast. There is no set mobility score or age required participation at any level (athletes must be age 4 by the start date of the AAU National Championships). |
Can AAU gymnasts be recruited to NCAA? |
Yes! AAU suports all levels of gymnastics. The AAU is a nationally recognized program and many athletes that compete in AAU gymnastics receive athletic and academic college scholarships. Check out an alumni spotlight from an AAU gymnast turned superstar. MAALIKA MOORE-THOMAS |
Is AAU lower cost than other organizations? |
AAU athlete memberships are only $20 which is the most affordable membership of any other gymnastics organization. **AAU gymnastics does not have jurisdiction over club fees or event registration fees.** REGISTER HERE |
What does AAU insurance include? |

Does AAU use the same judges as other organizations? |
The AAU National Gymnastics program contracts credentialed judges that are current members of the National Association of Women's Gymnastics Judges (NAWGJ). District Sport Directors have the option of contracting officials independently or through the NAWGJ.

What is needed in order to be an AAU gymnastics coach? |

Does the AAU restrict the number of hours gymnasts can train in the gym? |
No. However, the AAU's focus is establishing a healthy balance between sport, family, & school. With the whole child being at the forefront, you will find that many gymnastics clubs do not require extensive training hours for the gymnasts in their AAU programs. |

How can I qualify to AAU Regionals? |
Athletes are required to participate in their local AAU District/State Championships in order to qualify for AAU Regionals. No minimum score is required. You CAN register for AAU Regionals without having participated in your AAU Districts/State Championship yet. The registration deadline for Regionals can often precede the registration deadline for your District/ State Championship. If your athlete is unable to participate in AAU District/State championship, or your district does not offer a District or State Championship, then you will need to complete a petition to attend AAU Regionals.
