NORTH CAROLINA (March 11, 2024) -- As an inaugural member of North Carolina’s AAU Gymnastics program, Allie Stern made a name for herself and became one of the top college gymnasts of all time. She is now joining North Carolina’s AAU Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
Allie Stern was dedicated to gymnastics from a young age. In 2010, Allie began honing her craft. She began showcasing her talent on a Charlotte AAU Club, Harris YMCA. While with Harris YMCA, Stern captured a State and Regional AAU Championship.
Stern would go on to competing in level 6-10 with Perfect Balance Training Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. She advanced to level 10 in high school, competing in AAU State and Regional Championships, where she secured multiple titles in vault, floor routine, and all-around categories.
These accolades helped Stern earn a full scholarship to the University of Oklahoma, where she would become a three-time All-American in the vault and a three-time NCAA Team National Champion. While at the University of Oklahoma, Allie was also a 3-time Vault Individual All-American, and in 2022, Allie recorded a perfect 10.0 in the vault and was selected as the Big 12 Conference Athlete of the Week.
Allie was not only pouring her heart into gymnastics on the floor. Beyond her athletic prowess, Allie’s commitment to giving back to the community stands out. Allie coached for the Special Olympics as a volunteer during her High School years (2015-2018). During college, she was a mentor for a special needs student with Down Syndrome through a program called Soonerworks, a 4 year comprehensive integrated program for students with an intellectual or developmental disability who desire a post-secondary experience on a college campus.
Allie’s impact on the world of gymnastics extends beyond her achievements in the gym. Her legacy will continue to inspire generations of athletes to come. Congratulations Allie!
