JON LAROCHESTER | DIRECTOR OF HOCKEY OPERATIONS
With 28 years of coaching and administrative experience within the game of hockey, the 22-23 season marks Jon’s fourth year as the Collegiate Hockey Federation's Director of Hockey Operations. The 2022-2023 season will also be his 14 as the President of the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference, and his 16 at Farmingdale State College.
Throughout his time at Farmingdale State, Jon served as the Head Coach from 2007-2011 and now serves as the program's Director of Hockey Operations and General Manager. While at Farmingdale State, Jon oversaw the program's ascension to the National Ranks, laying the foundation for what has become one of the most recognizable and successful non-varsity college hockey programs in the country for more than a decade. Jon’s vision for Farmingdale State has never changed. He continues to drive the Farmingdale State Hockey program forward, providing leadership, guidance, and structure throughout all aspects of the organization.
Jon also serves as the President of the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference, which since 2010, has been one of the most highly decorated non-varsity college hockey conferences in the nation. Since its creation in 2010, the Empire has developed a reputation for its member's competitive success, and national accolades, and for hosting some of the largest showcases in the country. Jon's time as the President of the Empire Collegiate Hockey Conference has afforded him many opportunities to promote the non-varsity college game and expand opportunities for the student-athletes and programs of his conference.
Throughout Jon's career in college hockey, he has been named a 2-Time Atlantic Coach of Year (09-10), National Coach of the Year Runner Up (09), National Tournament Semi-Finalist, Asst. GM of the D3 National Select Team (10), 2012 ACHA D3 National Tournament Director.
In July of 2021, Jon was appointed by the AAU to the National Ice Hockey Committee, to serve as its Director of College Hockey.
In his private life, Jon will be entering his 24-year in public education, where he has served as a teacher, coach, and now administrator. Jon takes great pride in utilizing his experiences, professional network, innovative approach to problem-solving and contemporary skill set to ensure all student-athletes in his charge enjoy the most dynamic, "player first" college hockey experience possible.
