WEST CHESTER, Penn. (March 6, 2023) – The skates are laced, the buckets are on, and the puck has dropped. The 2024 AAU College Hockey National Championships are underway in West Chester, Pennsylvania as teams begin their quest towards the title.
College hockey teams from all over the country will make their way to the Ice Line Quad Rinks with hopes of raising the AAU College Hockey National Championship. 2024 marks the fifth (5th) season for AAU College Hockey (formerly known as College Hockey Federation) and to celebrate, this year’s event will be the largest National Championship in the sport’s history with over 1,300 athletes expected to participate.
For the first time, AAU College Hockey will be hosting all four of the AAU College Hockey National Championships over one action packed week. Division I, Division II, Division III, and the Women’s Division will all celebrate a champion by the final buzzer.
This year’s tournament will showcase 48 universities and colleges. There will be more than 85 games played over the course of the week culminating in AAU National Championships for each division. Game one starts today with the University of Georgia Bulldogs taking on the Cortland University Red Dragons.
The Men’s Division I group will begin their pool play round today, while the first ever Women’s Division will begin their pool play on March 7. Men’s Division II will see puck drop on March 8, and Men’s Division III will follow on March 9. The first of the four AAU National Champions will be crowned on Sunday March 10 with the Men’s Division I and Women’s Division championship games. In Division I, the University of Tampa Spartans return as the number 1 overall seed. Also returning are the reigning, defending champions who had their redemption story realized last year – the Binghamton University Bearcats. The Florida Atlantic University Owls lead the way for Division II teams while the University of Miami Hurricanes come in as the top seed of Division III play. The first ever Women’s Division will showcase University of Tampa, Paul Smith’s College, and Binghamton University.
