All-Sports Combine
|
The All-Sports Combine is a test of strength, speed, and athletic ability as determined through a series of five competitive athletic events. These events include:
- 40-yd Sprint
- Standing Long Jump
- Underhand Shot Put Toss
- Repetition Bench Press
- Repetition Power Clean
QUALIFICATION: This is an open event. No pre-qualification is required. Any athlete with a valid membership in any AAU sport may participate.
AGE DIVISIONS: Kids: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11 Youth: 12-13 Teenage: 14-15, 16-17, 18-19 Juniors: 20-23 (need to purchase an Adult Athlete AAU membership)

Baton Twirling
|
QUALIFICATION: United States athletes must compete and qualify at an AAU District, Regional, Super Regional, or Mini-National Championship in every event in which they wish to be eligible to compete in at the AAU Baton Twirling National Championships (individual, team, and corps events) conducted at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. A competitor can compete in only one status level/age group for each event. All non-United States athletes and any United States athlete who does not have a competition in their district are invited to participate; however, you must complete a waiver through the AAU Baton Twirling Office in order to compete. DIVISIONS: Baton Individual Events- One Baton, Two Baton, Three Baton, Multiple Baton. X-Strut, Straight-Line Strut, Parade Strut, Basic Strut, Military Strut, Hoop, Flag, Novelty Freestyle, Dance-Twirl Freestyle, Collegiate Half-Time Routine, Collegiate Downfield Strut, All-Around Twirling Champion (includes collegiate champion; see grid below) Individual Baton Status Levels: Challenger, Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite will be offered. College level will also be offered in the All-Around Champion event, Collegiate Half-Time and Collegiate Downfield Strut events. Baton Corps- Twirling Corps and Parade Corps Beginner and Advanced Status Baton Teams- Twirling Team (March Music), Dance-Twirl Team, Novelty Twirl Team, Street Parade Team, Show-Twirl Team, College Majorette Line, Auxiliary Teams (Pom Line, Dance Line, Drill Team, Guard, Majorette Line). Beginner and Advanced Status. Cheerleading

Jump Rope
|
QUALIFICATION: Participation in the JUMP ROPE event requires qualifying at one of the designated AAU Junior Olympic Games Jump Rope Qualifying Tournaments to be held at different geographic locations at various times. QUALIFICATION: Qualification to the AAU Junior Olympic Games is OPEN to all AAU athletes between the ages of 6 years old and 22 years old.

Sport Stacking

This event is held in conjunction with the World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) and Speed Stacks. Participants must qualify through select events hosted by the WSSA.

Swimming
|
QUALIFICATION: First, second, and third place finishers in approved AAU District Swimming Championship Meets in individual events under 400M, will qualify for the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Swimmers must place in the District Championship in the age division they will compete in during the AAU Junior Olympic Games.
In addition, swimmers who meet or beat the USA Swimming long course “A” time standard for all 200M, 400M and 1500M events and "BB” time standard for events under 200M are eligible to compete in the events where they meet the minimum time standards. Qualification for the 400M and 1500M is time only and they may not be entered as Bonus Events. The time standard must have been met during a bona fide competition between the date of the previous year’s AAU Junior Olympic Games entry deadline and the current year’s entry deadline, whether it was AAU, USA Swimming, YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, Parks & Recreation, etc. No yard times will be accepted. Yard times must be converted to long course meter times! Swimmers must list their time on the entry form and bring their time verification to the Championship.
Qualified swimmers may swim in bonus events, as approved, for 50M, 100M and 200M events. For every qualified event, a swimmer may enter 2 bonus events. At a minimum, it is suggested to have a “B” time standard to request approval for bonus events. Bonus events are subject to approval by the AAU National Aquatics Committee.
For the following events: 1) 11-12 400 meter Freestyle, 2) 13-14 1500 meter Freestyle and 3) 15-18 1500 meter Freestyle and 4) 400 IM. If room is available, the AAU Aquatics Committee will consider entries that do not meet the qualifying time standard. The remaining lanes will be filled according to best times until the heat is full (Post Scratches).
For the 8 & under division, USA Swimming long course time standards have not been established. The 8 & under division is open to any participant, however, he/she must submit an entry time to be used for seeding purpose and to verify that the athlete has swam in the event prior to the AAU Junior Olympic Games. Entries without times (NT) will not be accepted.
Qualifying period is from August 1, 2016 through July 13, 2017.

Taekwondo

QUALIFICATION: Qualification is simply based on participation in a District or Regional qualifying event. I.e. you need only participate in your AAU District Championship event in order to qualify. Special Needs athletes are not required to participate in a previous AAU event, but it is encouraged.

Trampoline & Tumbling
|
QUALIFICATION: All competitors must compete in the AAU District Championships and compete in at least 1 (one) AAU licensed meet prior to the District. A competitor can compete in only one level/one age group in trampoline and only one level/one age group in tumbling. If you are unable to attend the District Championship, a petition may be submitted to the National Chair for approval.
AGES: Ages 3 to 20 years old

Wrestling
|
QUALIFICATIONS: In order to advance to a National Dual Championship, your team must participate in your AAU District Qualifier. Please contact your District Sports Director to find out if there is an AAU District Qualifier in your District. If your District is not conducting an AAU District Qualifier, your team can advance directly to the National Dual Championship. For information on teams that hold qualifying events, visit www.aauwrestling.net. A team may only represent a single District and all members comprising a team must be from the same AAU District or released by their District according to the guidelines in the AAU Wrestling Handbook.
AGE DIVISIONS: High School
DIVISIONS: TEAMS will be comprised of up to 20 wrestlers (must have a minimum of 8 competitors) having birth years of 1998, 1999, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. Documentation of age AND school attendance must be provided for all wrestlers. NO POST HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES MAY PARTICIPATE (i.e. graduated and then attending prep school)
