PurposeTo recognize athletes, instructors, coaches and supporters in the United States for their outstanding involvement and contribution in the development, growth, teaching, coaching and competing in the art of traditional karate-do.
Criteria
-Must be a member in good standing with the AAU National Karate Program.
-Must have made a substantial contribution in the development, growth, teaching, coaching or athletic performance in the art of traditional karate-do.
-Must be of good character and law abiding with references that would reflect positively on the AAU National Karate Program.
-Must be at least 18 years of age and an active AAU member.
Categories
-Man or Woman of the Year Award is an achievement award is awarded for the development, growth, and continued dedication to the promotion of traditional Karate-do in the USA.
-Instructor of the Year Award awarded to a Sensei responsible for the teaching of a student or team who has represented the United States and has won a medal in National Championships, International, World Cup, Pan American Championships and World Championships.
-Athlete of the Year Award is awarded to a competitor who is a member of the USA/AAU National Karate Team who has represented the USA in the highest level of Traditional Karate in the International -Arena and has won a medal for their country.
-Coach of the Year Award is awareded to a coach who has been instrumental in developing winning athletes in the sport of karate, in school and in the community.
Instructor of the Year Award
-Embraces the AAU Mission Statement - "Sport For All, Forever"
-Produces Quality Athletes, Coaches and Officials
-Produces National Champion Athletes
-Dedicated Service
-Humanitarian Contribution
Man/Woman of the Year
-Outstanding Service in the AAU Karate Program.
-Minimum of five (5) years of service to the AAU Karate Program.
-Significant Contribution to the AAU Karate Program.
Coach of the Year
-Paves the way for our athletes to compete in numerous events nationally and internationally.
-Technically advises and trains athletes to perform at their best level possible.
-Participates in all majority AAU Karate events.

-Growth in AAU membership within the region
