Two AAU Alumni reached new heights as they broke records and won Gold medals in Paris during the 2024 Paralympics! Morgan Stickney and Jaydin Blackwell each broke their own records on the way to capturing the top spot of the podium. In front of the world, these AAU Alumni performed at their highest level.
Morgan Stickney defended her crown in the women's 400-meter freestyle S7 this year. Returning to the top of the medal stand was special, but Stickney also broke the Paralympic record twice en route to her third overall gold medal in the Paralympic games. In the gold medal race, Stickney won by a staggering 17 seconds and cemented her name in the history books.
Jaydin Blackwell made his Paralympic debut in a major way. Under the lights, Blackwell raced to the men's 100-meter T38 gold medal and broke his own World Record on his way to the finish line. He previously set the record in July with a time of 10.72, but he saved his best for the Paralympic stage. He smashed his own record with a time of 10.64 as he raced to the top of the podium!
With AAU, there are Limitless Possibilities. Who will win next? #ItAllStartsHere!
The AAU was founded in 1888 to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. During its early years, the AAU served as a leader in international sport representing the U.S. in the international sports federations. The AAU worked closely with the Olympic movement to prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. After the Amateur Sports Act of 1978, the AAU has focused its efforts into providing sports programs for all participants of all ages beginning at the grass roots level. The philosophy of "Sports for All, Forever," is shared by nearly 800,000 participants and over 150,000 volunteers.
